what is asbestos made of
How would I tell if my wall is made of asbestos?

I sleep close to the ceiling of my wall, due to my loft bed. I’m not sure if I’m sleeping close to asbestos, and I frequently hit the wall on accident. It could be nothing, but I’m concerned to know if I’m really placing a dangerous bet with what’s above me or it’s merely nothing dangerous.

Other than getting cancer, what would be a good way of finding out?
Built in the late 70’s.

That’s a popcorn ceiling: it’s made of gypsum and is harmless (I’ve installed it).

There are no such things as “asbestos walls”. Only things asbestos in buildings is really old insulation and a type of tile used as an exterior siding (both pre-1970’s) .
