how can i safely reomove asbestos ducts from my home?
I am a homeowner, and have some non-friable asbestos ducts running from my furnace that i need to remove before getting my new furnace installed. I DO NOT have the money to pay an abatement service. I know how to dispose of the asbestos, and know where to dispose of it, but I don’t know how to go about it, and am having problems finding such info on the web. HELP!?
Take the ducts out in the largest pieces you can as not to make dust by breaking it up. Use a spray bottle of water on the ducts to keep them wet this keeps it from becoming friable. Do not use a saw,grinder or other tool that will throw the asbestos into the air. It is a good thing to also wear a dust mask when doing this. Do not forget to put the pieces in plastic 6mm bags.
