How come the brakes on my Hyundai are so noisy?

And do you believe this explanation from the mechanic at my local Hyundai dealership. He told me that Hyundai uses asbestos linings in their brakes. When Hyundai ships vehicles to the US, they remove the asbestos brake linings because of US regulations. In many cases, as in the case with my Hyundai Accent, the replacement brake linings do not work as well as the OEM asbestos linings.
My brakes are very noisy, and worst in wet weather and when the car is cold in the morning. Then when the brakes wear down, the noise is less noticeable. But then the brakes are worn and when I replace the brake pads the brakes are noisy again.

Hyundai recommends a brake service every 15,000 miles, especially in states where salt is used on the roads and when brakes are continually wet.

Rust forms quite easily in these conditions and more often than not, that is what you are hearing. When the vehicle is not in use, rust almost immediately starts to form. The initial noise you hear, is the rust on the rotor being scraped against the pads and then, the pads scraping the rust off the rotor when you apply them – which is why the noise disappears after a while.

It is normal, common and expected by Hyundai dealers. I think they could have explained it a little better to you though and they should have made you aware of the preventive maintenance for it.

The service they can perform will sand the pads, rotor and caliper, clean and lube the sliders (the metal clips that hold your pads in place), and then apply anti-squeal to the brake pads themselves. Not only does it help prevent rust buildup but it also prolongs the life of your pads.

It may be the Korean metal used in their rotors and pads – it’s hard to say why they rust so quickly. Going to Bendix or Raybestos should help – anything semi-metallic or ceramic should be much quieter.

Chinese Drywall – The Great Drywall of China Problem

Chinese Drywall – it’s all over the news. Like a plague with devastating effects, its mere mention can wipe out home values in affected communities as homes are considered guilty by association. What exactly is the problem? The first in a series of articles

Unlike domestically manufactured drywall, Chinese drywall has been reported to contain volatile sulfur compounds and fly ash, a coal byproduct. These elements when exposed to moisture, such as high relative humidity, produce gases which have been reported to cause structural problems in homes as well as serious health issues.

Along with a strong smell of rotten eggs, gases such as sulfur dioxide have been reported to destroy air conditioners and other appliances, cause the corroding of electrical wiring and copper, and result in serious health problems among the home dwellers.

The health problems linked to Chinese drywall include:

Headaches

Sinus Infections

Coughing

Respiratory Infections

Difficulty Breathing

Nose Bleeds

Eye Irritation

How did this Happen

To fill the demand, records indicate that over 500 million pounds of Chinese drywall and plasterboard were imported into the United States between 2004 and 2008. In 2006 an estimated 11 million pounds of Chinese drywall came in through Port Canaveral, Florida alone.

What areas have been affected

So far, problems with Chinese Drywall have mainly been reported in the southeast, where humid and moist conditions exist. Problems have also been discovered so far in Florida, Louisiana, Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina and California.

What is Next

This is only the only beginning of the problems we are likely to encounter as a result of toxic Chinese Drywall. A federal class action has already been certified in Louisiana and in Florida residents of many large developments have banded together to file class action lawsuits against developers, contractors and manufacturers of defective drywall.

Toxic-tort litigation, similar to that of Asbestos and Mesothelioma, could tie our court system up for years.

Wet n’ Wild Ultimate Mineral Foundation?

I am not willing to pay tons of money for a mineral foundation, so i purchased Wet n’ Wild mineral foundation, but one this has me thinking. It is made from talc; i know that talc used to contain asbestos, and it has been highly monitored to make sure the talc didn’t contain asbestos in cosmetics. This product is made in China.
Do they have the same safety standards?
Is this product safe?
Would it not be available if it were unsafe?
i read the label again, and it is talc-free. So i just mis-read. The reason i used this brand was because I have used it before, and it works really well, actually. The plus side is, its cheaper. But Thank You!

The FDA regulates makeup products sold in the USA…yes, they are safe. Tip — foundation is not something to be cheap about. It covers a large portion of your face, and a poorly chosen brand or color can make you look ridiculous. You should probably consider stepping it up next time and buying a better brand such as Revlon or L’oreal.

How much to remove asbestos popcorn ceilings?

Hello,

We’re considering a home purchase of a house with popcorn ceilings. We haven’t had it tested, but I’m concerned that it has asbestos popcorn ceilings due to its age.

Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to have it professionally removed in a 3 bedroom home? There are three small bedrooms and also a small living room that all have popcorn ceilings.

I’m wondering if anyone has had this done, or has any rough idea what I’d be looking at price-wise? I’ve read a lot about the procedure, but can’t find pricing.. even very rough estimates.

Thanks in advance!

It very much depends on where you live. In New York City the costs will be 5-10 times elsewhere. Just a rough guess for most of the USA would be $1-3k. Don’t buy the house unless it gets tested. Hire a professional to take the sample (couple of hundred dollars).

For one thing, I believe that if a tile is 9″x9″, it likely has asbestos.

Considering taking the OHST, BS geology, 17 years in environmental field, a large part in Industrial Hygiene with asbestos, lead, mold, and safety monitoring at construction and plant sites. Want to focus more on the safety side.

While the OHST certification certainly doesn’t hurt, with your extensive experience in health and safety you may want to consider working towards a CSP, CIH, and/or CHMM (if applicable) instead. All 3 of these certifications are better known, more recognized, and have more stringent requirements than the OHST.

If you continue to work in the environmental field (especially environmental remediation), a PG license (if you don’t already have one) is more valuable and necessary than any of these certifications.

OSHA Safety Training For The General Industry

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration provide regulations for the safety and health of workers in construction, maritime and general industry. Standard 29 Part 1910 gives a summary of the OSHA General Industry Standards. Subpart D deals with Walking-Working Surfaces that are a chief source of injuries and provides regulations regarding the guarding of floor and wall openings, fixed industrial stairs and ladders, portable wood and metal ladders and safety requirements for scaffolding. Specifications regarding the design and construction requirements of exit routes, emergency and fire prevention plans are outlined under Means of Egress.

Other standards include those for Powered Platforms, Manlifts, and Vehicle-Mounted Work Platforms, Occupational Health and Environment Control, Hazardous Materials, Personal Protective Equipment like eye, face, head and respiratory protection, General Environmental Controls like specifications for sanitation and accident prevention signs and tags, Medical and First Aid, specifications for Fire Protection, Compressed Gas and Compressed Air Equipment, Handling and Storage of Materials, Machinery and Machine Guarding, Welding, Cutting and Brazing, Special Industries, and Electrical Safety Requirements.

OSHA 10-hour Training for General Industry orients students to OSHA policies, standards and procedures and also acquaints them with the safety and health regulations for General Industry. Topics like Introduction to OSHA, OSH Act, Citations and Inspections, Walking and Working Surfaces, Electrical Safety, Means of Egress and Fire Protection, Personal Protective Equipment, Machine Guarding, Hazard Communication, Introduction to Industrial Hygiene and Bloodborne Pathogens and safety and Health Programs are covered in the 10 hour training module.

Those desirous of obtaining a comprehensive idea about the OSHA compliance issues should undergo the OSHA 30-hour Training for General Industry. Apart from the topics included in the 10-hour module, it provides an in-depth analysis of issues like, HAZWOPER, Confined Spaces, Lockout/Tagout, Hazardous Materials, Materials Handling, Recordkeeping, Workplace Violence, Basic Safety Orientation, Lead safety in the Workplace, Hazards of Asbestos in the Workplace, Ionizing and Non-Ionizing Radiation in the Workplace, Non-Office Ergonomics, Formaldehyde Awareness, Use of Explosives in the Workplace etc. If required, additional training on some particular hazardous aspects of the job will serve as a bonus.

The OSHA 501 Trainer course in OSHA Standards for General Industry is recommended for the workers interested in imparting training in the OSHA 10 or 30-hour General Industry Outreach courses. It emphasizes on acquainting them with the use of visual aids and handouts, and the use of different instructional approaches that enhances understanding and comprehension of OSHA standards. It helps in locating OSHA safety and health standards pertaining to General Industry, using these regulations to reinforce the existing health and safety programs, discovering violations of OSHA standards, like hazardous materials, lockout/tagout, walking and working surfaces etc, and keeping of records. After successfully completing the course, workers become authorized trainers.

OSHA 511 specifically emphasizes on the major hazardous areas of the workplace, is guided by the OSHA standards and is recommended as a prerequisite for the OSHA 501. After finishing the course, students are supplied with a 30-hour course completion card. It enables personnel to identify appropriate OSHA standards, general causes of accidents and deaths in hazardous locations, violations of OSHA standards, and abatement methods to deal with them. OSHA 511 is for those workers who will not be conducting the training sessions.

Hence Safety Training in the OSHA standards for General Industry is a precursor to the prevention of work-related accidents, injuries and deaths and maintenance of safety and health of workers.

Drywall Texture: A Long Term Investment

Drywall texture is a compound that is rolled, sprayed, or troweled onto the sheetrock after the taping and floating of joints is complete. It is the same material as the joint compound, but thinned down with water and applied to the wall surface. There is a lot of variation in styles of texture, and some are more appropriate for certain styles of homes. Here are seven basic types:

Skip Trowel – For this style, texture is applied to the walls with a trowel. Trowel marks may be left on the surface to give a rustic, hand crafted look. It is often seen on Tuscan or old world style homes.

Stamped – The texture may be troweled on first, and then stamped with a tool. The result can be things such as leaves, bird’s feet, windmills, etc. Or, a flat brush may be dipped in the texture and stomped on the walls, creating a texture with swirl patterns.

Knock down – Texture is first sprayed on, and allowed to partly dry. Then, a variety of tools may be used to scrape the texture and flatten it down. It is possible to use trowels, sponges, brooms or other tools to scrape or smooth down the texture and create patterns. Monterrey Drag is a type of knock down that imitates an exterior plaster look. In this approach, a thick coating of texture is dragged over with a trowel. This style may be a dust catcher due to the high relief of the mud.

Orange Peel – This is a sprayed texture that leaves a light to heavy splatter on the walls. It resembles the peel of an orange. If done with a fine spray, it can be one of the lightest, least noticeable of the texture styles.

Sand – Sand can added to the texture for a grainy, sandy look. The sandy texture may be sprayed or rolled on. Sand may also be added to paint.

Acoustic – In the 1970’s it was common to save the labor cost of floating the ceiling by spraying a heavy texture over the area. This is sometimes referred to as a popcorn ceiling. This style is not in favor today, and frequently homeowners grapple with removal of this heavy texture. This should be done carefully, since some acoustic textures may contain lead or asbestos. Certainly, if these toxic chemical are found, the job should be turned over to professionals. After the texture is removed, the ceiling will need to be re-textured to match the walls.

Smooth – This is a smooth application of texture over the sheetrock wall. It feathers out the sheetrock joints, and creates an even, non-textured wall. This is one of the most expensive and exacting styles. Minor variations will show up as defects, so several stages of sanding and application are needed to create a good job.

Regardless of the wall finish you use, keep in mind that flat paint tends to hide defects and minimize patterns. It gives a matt finish with less emphasis on the wall texture. Reflective paint enhances textures because the light catches the raised surfaces.

Before having wall texture done by professionals, ask to see a sample. The workman’s idea of light texture may not be what you had in mind. This is an area where miscommunication often happens. Texture covers a lot of area, and is difficult to remove if you are not happy with the job. Treat it as a long term investment.

Water Contaminant Dangers

While there are laws and acts that exist to protect the water supplies; contaminants still manage to find there way into our everyday drinking supply. It is of the up most importance that harmful materials being used in production are contained and cross-contamination of these chemicals with water or soil does not occur.

There are many organizations, which have the authorization to assist in protections. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates contamination through the Clean Water Act (1972), the Safe Drinking Water Act (1974), among other laws and statutes. Nearly 90 different chemicals that are known pollutants of soil and water are regulated by the EPA, who has made a maximum contaminant level for these chemicals.

This information is presented in the Drinking Water Contaminant Candidate List, which also discusses priorities for research and further regulation. Part of the job of the Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water is to ensure contaminants do not become intermixed with water and soil. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) offers guidelines regarding drinking water if an abnormally high risk of health ramifications (such the possibility of a compromised immune system) exists.

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Diseases Registry (ATSDR) is an excellent resource for research, which has been done on hazardous substances and their proliferation. Research on healthy water and regulations is conducted and data is collected by the National Center for Environmental Assessment.

Most local water companies publish an annual drinking water quality report which is accessible online free of charge. If an individual has additional questions, state certified water testing laboratories can provide assistance. Water pollution is an invasive and ubiquitous concern. It can and does occur in many places. Wells and ground aquifers can be the home to plumes, defined as a fluid body of contamination flowing from a specific source. Humans are at risk through ingestion, dermal contact with or inhalation of hazardous substances. The latter can be from breathing the steam while using the water to wash, or from a combination of low water tables and volatile chemicals resulting in a concentration of chemical gas in basements, cellars or ground level floors.

According to the Children’s Health Environmental Coalition, the following are potential water contaminants:

* Pathogens: Bacteria, parasites and viruses such as hepatitis and giardiasis. Most water is disinfected against biological contamination, however if one is concerned about parasites, it may be prudent to contact the local water company and make sure adequate measures are being taken to preserve health and safety.

* Heavy metals: Examples include lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury from industrial use, incineration and disposal in landfills. Testing the water for lead is an especially important precaution as so many cities still use lead piping to distribute water and over 800 cities register water above the EPA’s .15mg/l threshold for action.

* Non-metallic inorganics: Such as insecticides, nitrates and asbestos. These substances may enter the water supply through use in agriculture or the storage and distribution of water itself. Private wells are especially susceptible to this variety of hazardous contamination.

* Synthetic Organic Compounds: This is basically a catch-all for over 50,000 substances with widely varying solubility, volatility, vaporization and toxicity. They include additives to solvents, pesticides, plastics, cleaners and cosmetics.

* Radioactive substances: This can be caused by both man man and naturally occurring processes. The substances found include radon, radium, uranium, and strontium. There is no federal law requiring testing for these elements, thus, again, it may be a responsible gesture to confirm that your local water company does an adequate comprehensive analysis.

* Chlorine and Trihalomethanes: Chlorine is added to water to disinfect it, as discussed above. Unfortunately, it also reacts with organic chemicals left in the water by soil and decaying vegetation, forming a group of chemicals called trihalomethanes (THM). THMs are carcinogens which are methane derivatives.

Clearly, there are many potential health hazards present in water, something that is seemingly innocuous, but should be carefully monitored.

A reputed company always offers free consultation and support. I would recommend you to find a company which provides free of cost legal consultation. Almost every good company has a website. It is a good idea to go through the website. You should try to know about the work experience of the company which is providing legal support. You should go through the old cases which were handled by the lawyers of the company.

Mesothelioma is one of the worst forms of cancer. The main cause of mesothelioma is chronic inhalation of asbestos particles. The asbestos particles can be very harmful for human body. They can harm the lungs as well as other organs of the body. These particles specifically attack mesothelium. It is a special covering of the organs which allow them to move smoothly. The cancer developed in the mesothelium is not limited to one part of body but can also become malignant. The people who are diagnosed with mesothelioma do not live for a long time.

It is very important to diagnose the disease in a timely manner. You should have enough information about the signs and symptoms of the disease. The common symptoms of the asbestos cancer are dyspnoea, chest pain, weakness, and weight loss. If any of the above symptoms appear in your loved one then it is a good idea to visit a physician or an oncologist.

The three main organs or systems which are attacked by asbestos particles are lungs, gastrointestinal tract and heart. The most common form of this cancer is pleural form. If the cancer cells invade the gastrointestinal tract then it is known as peritoneal form. The third and the rarest type of mesothelioma is pericardial form.

You should spend some time in finding more information on this topic. You should have enough information about every sphere of the legal process. It is a good idea to find informative websites or blogs which are devoted to this type of cancer. You can also go through some article directories or online magazines which offer free articles on health related topics.

Boston Naval Shipyard & Asbestos Use

Located in Charlestown, Massachusetts, the Charlestown Navy Yard was among the first shipbuilding sites in the nation. It operated from 1801 to 1974, and has been referred to as the Boston Naval Shipyard since 1945. Like many other shipyards in the United States, the Boston Naval Shipyard used asbestos.

The Secretary of the Navy opened the Boston Naval Shipyard to build vessels for the country’s defense and to repair those that had been damaged. The USS Independence was the first vessel built at the Boston Naval Shipyard, and many other Navy ships followed. Destroyer escorts, barrack ships, submarines, destroyers, tank landing ships and motor tugs were among the ships constructed at the Boston Naval Shipyard. The Boston Naval Shipyard was also used to repair and store Navy vessels.

The Boston Naval Shipyard was active during several different wars, including the Spanish American War, World War I and World War II. During World War II, the Boston Naval Shipyard employed a record-high 50,000 workers. This was mostly because of an array of attacks from German submarines that destroyed and sank a number of naval vessels.

The Massachusetts shipyard employed a variety of workers including blacksmiths, shipbuilders, machinists, electricians, sail makers, plumbers and carpenters. Unfortunately, many of these workers may have been exposed to the toxic mineral asbestos. Asbestos refers to a group of six minerals that were utilized for their heat resistance and insulating properties. Because of this, asbestos was used in many industries, including shipbuilding, from the late 1800s until its ban in the late 1900s. When products containing asbestos are damaged or disturbed, tiny asbestos fibers are released into the air and can be inhaled into the lungs. Eventually, these asbestos fibers can lead to the development of mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer.

The Boston Naval Shipyard used asbestos extensively throughout the shipbuilding process, particularly after it began using steel and metal for hulls and various other parts. According to the U.S Navy, approximately 300 products containing asbestos were used regularly in the shipbuilding process. Although the health effects of asbestos exposure were recorded as early as the 1920s, those working with the mineral were unaware of its dangers until the mid to late 1900s. As a result, many workers, including shipbuilders, Navy veterans and naval contractors, may have been exposed to asbestos fibers in dangerous amounts. Although the Navy banned asbestos use in 1973, many workers had already been exposed to the harmful mineral.

In 1974, the Boston Naval Shipyard was shut down as part of a government cost-saving plan. As the dangers of asbestos became public in the 1970s, any asbestos products at the shipyard had to be cleaned up and removed properly. Several acres of the Boston Naval Shipyard are now part of the Boston National Historical Park.

which is a cancer that is caused by exposure to asbestos. Malignant Mesothelioma is known as one of the worlds deadliest forms of cancer. This disease claims the lives of thousands of people each year in the United States alone.

Mesothelioma is a cancer of the mesothelium, which is the membrane that surrounds the lungs, abdomen, and heart. It is always fatal and usually takes decades after being exposed to asbestos for the slow growing cancer to be found or cause symptoms. At that point it is usually a poor prognosis due to the progression of the disease.

There are three types of Mesothelioma:

    * Cancer of the mesothelium surrounding the lungs, which is pleural mesothelioma
    * Cancer of the mesothelium surrounding the stomach. which is peritoneal mesothelioma
    * Cancer of the mesothelium surrounding the heart, which is pericardial mesothelioma

It is best to consult New York mesothelioma attorneys if you are considering a lawsuit or need legal counsel for yourself or a family member.

Exposure to asbestos is a cause for malignant Mesothelioma. While we all know that cancer can attack just about any organ or system in the body, most people can show very few external symptoms until it is really too late. This is often the case with mesothelioma.

By the time mesothelioma is diagnosed, however, there is nothing that can be done to stop or reverse the process. Sometimes cancer treatments can help some people survive 12 to 18 months.

Many people where exposed to asbestos years ago while working in various industries, such as:

    * builders and contractors
    * coal miners
    * ship building industry
    * construction workers
    * more

Many people where exposed to asbestos in their job by inhaling or ingesting tiny microscopic asbestos fibers. Those asbesots fibers for many settled in the lungs permanently. Consult with New York mesothelioma attorneys to get more information.

Asbestos is actually a mineral that naturally occurs and has been used for centuries in such things as insulation, fire resistant materials as well as clothing. Today the use of asbestos is banned and there are recalls on the products that used or use asbesots. However, that does not help the people that were affected by asbestos from exposure years ago.

If you find out what your legal rights are, you can take the necessary steps to take care of yourself and your family and discuss your options.

It is important to contact lung cancer mesothelioma attorneys as soon as possible when you know what you’re diagnosis is. An attorney can help you get the money that you deserve to pay for your medical expenses as well as anything else that you may need during this difficult time.

Even if you’ve been diagnosed to be terminally ill you can still use an attorney to pay for expenses that you do not want your family to have to deal with once you’re gone. If you are unsure of what to do, get a consult with experienced New York mesothelioma attorneys in your area now.Visit here http://mesotheliomatreatment-option.blogspot.com

How much up to code does a house have to be to place it on the market?

I inherited a large (2500 sq ft) 110 year old Victorian house that I’d like to sell. A real estate agent said before I can sell the house I have to 1) strip all the paint and re-paint with non-lead paint, 2) get the asbestos insulation out and 3) get a circuit breaker installed in place of the fuse box. Also several other things that were not up to current code standards. Is he kidding? To do that would cost as much as I could sell it for on today’s depressed market. I already asked about the painting job. One contractor said he could do it for $20,000. When I asked why so much, he said because they have to take extra special precaution in stripping the old paint off, virtually wrapping the house in a giant plastic bag. Then the disposal is very expensive. The asbestos would probably be the same story. How much do I really have to invest in a house that I want to sell? Shouldn’t these renovations be up to the new owner?
It’s in Saratoga County in upstate New York.

He is kidding. Or an idiot.

You do not need to strip the paint, but if it has not been painted in 60 years you will need to repaint.

You do not need to remove the asbestos, which is harmless when undisturbed, but you have to disclose it is there. Verify it is asbestos, most people have no clue.

You will need to replace the fuse box though, I am surprised it works.

The contractor likely gave a fair bid, if you are going to make him strip it. There is no reason to strip it though. Once you paint over the lead it is sealed up, harmless.

And, last but not least, yes, you can sell “as is”. You should have no problem finding a buyer. Where I am (CA) a house like that would have a dozen offers on day one, even in this market, if you price it right. Very desirable houses like this remain desirable and are not effected by the present housing situation.

If you have had past exposure to asbestos can new exposure trigger more problems?

My husband has lung scarring and copd from asbestos exposure. This morning he was working on leaking pipe in our apartment building basement and he turned all grey and had coughing fits and trouble breathing. I looked around and realized that we have damaged exposed asbestos on a lot of pipes. He has only been doing this job for 3 years and became symptomatic of copd 18 months ago. Could this new exposure trigger the reaction. I have already called Occupational Health and Safety
we are superintedents in the building

OSHA can’t do a thing as they are there to ensure the health and safety of “workers”. From your description, it sounds like you guys own the apartment building or at least your husband was fixing a leaking pipe in the building in which you rent. Either way, OSHA has no jurisdiction.

Yes, exposure to any kind of dust can trigger what your husband experienced after his initial exposure.

I removed floor tile, with a pick, that I found out was asbestos. I inhaled the dust for 2 days. Am I at risk?

I’m not sure how much exposure to asbestos is bad for you. I was breathing the dust in for AT LEAST 2 days. That’s the only form of asbestos I was ever exposed to, as far as I know. Am I now at risk for asbestos-related illness? I’m very nervous about this.

Angel (above) has given you a full answer, and I wouldn’t disagree with what she says, however, it depends. Assuming the floor tiles were lino tiles, then the only type of asbestos used for floor tiles was Chrysotile (white asbestos). Of the 6 types of asbestos in the world, Chrysotile is the least harmful. This does not mean that it is harmless, but it is less likely to have a long term damaging effect.

I should also mention that the black bituminous material that was probably used to stick the floor tiles down, was also likely to have contained asbestos.

Please bear in mind that asbestos is at it’s most harmful when it is inhaled. As you can imagine, it is very difficult to make bituminous material or vinyl become airborne.

The odds are very much in your favour that you will escape any long term effect on this occasion, but I am sure you will remember this for future work. Beware of textured coatings too, they can also commonly contain asbestos.

Hope this helps

So today, i overheard my teacher telling her student assistant “can you please tape the floor back together” meaning that there was a place where the shiny section floor was seperating from the carpet section floor. and then i overheard her saying “oh and don’t breathe in the fumes while doing it because there is asbestos under the floor” I then started freaking out because i sit near the vicinity of where the floor is seperating and needs to be taped and i was wondering what she meant by don’t breathe in the fumes because there is asbestos under the floor. if it is a hazard that she has to give caution, then shouldn’t she report it so it can be handled PROPERLY and SAFELY? i didn’t want to ask her about it because it wasn’t an open topic to being with and i didn’t wanna make a big commotion.

UMMMM!!!!!!!!

serosly talk to your principle about this.. Asbestos is highly dangerous, it causes a type of caner called mesothelioma ..

liek seriously Go report this NOW!

Was it Asbestos please help?

I was ripping up the floor boards in my attic and noticed that there were these little stone like pebbles all over in between the rafters not knowing what it was i left it alone but towards the end of the day my foot slipped and I did a nose dive into the stuff and it crumbled and emitted a dust cloud right in my face. My home was built in 1950. man i’m freaking out cuz i know I inhaled a ton of that crap cuz i felt sooty powder in my mouth so I quickly rinsed my mouth out. someone please help. Could be i’m just shook up but my lungs feel like they are being sliced with a knife with every breath.

Asbestos exposure becomes a health concern when high concentrations of asbestos fibers are inhaled over a long time period. People who become ill from asbestos are almost always those who are exposed on a day-to-day basis in a job where they work directly with the material. As a person’s exposure to fibers increases, either by breathing more fibers or by breathing fibers for a longer time, that person’s risk of disease also increases. Disease is very unlikely to result from a single, high-level exposure, or from a short period of exposure to lower levels.

So you will be ok. if it keeps burning see a doc
