Slate Siding Asbestos

How to tell the difference between slate siding and asbestos siding?
They both look about the same so how do you tell the difference between them.
Slate is natural stone – expensive and I have only seen it used in old roofing. Asbestos siding was used in houses 50 -60 years ago and it looks like compressed fibers, not stone. Yes it is cool, and hard to the touch, but the fiber look gives it away.
Breathing the airborne particles CAN be bad for your health – but this effects people who have been around it a lot. Just like smoking – some people get lung cancer who don’t smoke, and some smokers never get it.
