Grants Asbestos Removal
In the state of Nebraska, are there any government grants for the removal of asbestos from roof shingles?
well buggy, not too long ago asphalt shingles did have asbestos in them and we will still be removing those roofs for a few more years. also, at one time roofs were covered in an asbestos that looks like slate. many of these roofs are still functioning as asbestos was far superior to the modern day toxic roofs. as far as grants for removal, i don’t know of any and yes, most asbestos removal companies will charge an arm and a leg especially to remove asbestos from a roof.
i have been involved in re-roofing projects that first required asbestos removal and have seen the process. it is not very difficult, they just have to try to prevent the asbestos fibers from becoming airborne. the tiles are simply be sprayed with water as they’re being taken off to keep the fibers from becoming airborne. depending on your local codes you may or may not be required to hire an asbestos removal company. now that temporary, toxic, petrochemical roofing has taken over in the last few decades, you will find that almost any roofer will do almost anything for money. many roofing contractors will do the removal themselves for much less in order to get the work. please be careful with these guys cause most could care less about the safety and well being of their workers and their customers.
