Does Insulation Have Asbestos

could I have asbestos?
I’m insulating my loft and removing the old stuff. It is a brown colour, giving out a lot of dust and I believe it is the original insulation – from 1952. I understand asbestos was used in homes from the 50’s to the 80’s.
I’ve looked on my local council website and they said in small quantities you can remove it yourself with minimum danger if you wear a mask etc and dispose of it at the local so called “recycling centre”.
If it is asbestos – is half a roof floor a small area?
- would you pay someone to remove it or do it yourself? (i’m in a rented house and doubt my landlord would pay to have it removed – the insulation was rubbish hence the reason we are doing it ourselves)
Advice appreciated.
Forgot to mention, its not fibre glass for sure.
I agree with the first person about the mask it could be fiberglass,or cotton,or asbestos either way wear a mask get a jumpsuit to wear also.and use gloves.take a shower Immediately after handling the insulation.in cool water hot will open the pores and allow insulation to get in your skin.I would take these precautions ,but still do it myself.
Asbestos 300000000 people may be infected by Vermiculite Insulation
