Can Asbestos Be Removed
Contractor didn’t remove asbestos properly. Should I be concerned?
We hired a contractor to remove the 2% asbestos popcorn ceiling in our new home. Well when we met him he said he would contain the area. To our suprise, we show up today and we can see white powder swept on the floors!!! He didn’t contain it as he said. So now we are remodeling this house, putting in new flooring, paint, etc… but I don’t know if I can live there knowing this stuff is around. What can I do? Should I even worry if we are covering up all the floors with new tile and carpet?
Put on a mask. Mist powder gently with water. Mop with damp disposable cloths. Put those cloths in sealed plastic bag.
The tile covering will be fine. Upgrade your carpet pad to one with a vinyl top. These are sold but you have to ask. They are great because they last much longer than the carpet. Also if you have pets or spills the odor doesn’t soak into the pad where its impossible to remove.
