Asbestos Wrapped Pipes

Has anyone here or know someone who dealt with asbestos pipe wrap removal and didn’t have any health issues?
I have heard of people who worked with this stuff for life and never had a problem and I have also herad the opposite. I may need to have 16′ of the stuff removed.
Wearing a dust mask…. Only an ameteur would wear one (lktraden39). If you do remove this stuff, there are techniques that are done to keep asbestos fibers under control, and wetting them is only one of them.
For gross removal of pipe insulation, plastic enclosures, called ‘glove bags’, are designed to wrap around the pipes so that you can work inside the bag without releasing fibers. Science has not been able to discern exactly how much exposure is needed to cause illness. Thus, what you need to do is to prevent any exposure any way that you can.
Get a respirator that is NIOSH approved with P100 HEPA filters. NOT a dust mask, a respirator. P90 and P95 filters are not good enough, they must be 100. You will also need 6 mil bags to contain the waste, and don’t forget to wet the asbestos PRIOR to cutting. BTW, did you have the suspect material tested to know for sure that it’s asbestos? Why go through all that business if it’s not asbestos-containing for sure?
Good luck!

Sounds like he was bought off. First thing is to contact the Illinois State Bar Association and file a complaint against him. Most bars have a referral system and you can ask to be referred. Where I live lawyers are advertising on TV for this type of case all the time. Try a few of those.
