Asbestos Sheetrock

asbestos sheetrock
Lumpy artex, how to get rid of it?

I know it can contain asbestos so I don’t want to sand it. Products to remove seem very expensive and dubious.
The options that I’m aware of are:
plaster right over it (professional) (good idea ? or will it crack)
Board over it, then skim the plasterboard but how would you attach the plasterboard (sheetrock) ? I don’t want to increase the thickness of the walls much more with timber frames etc.
Wood tonge and groove, but not entirely in love with that idea.

The house is really solid, double bricks and concrete floors throughout.

Any idea on price of replastering (and can you mention the size of the room(s) you’ve had done?)
Thanks

hi Boggy!
And the plaster directly on top of the artex…. it’s all looking good? no cracks or anything? (how long has it been there?)
Thanks!

I have seen an advertisement for a product called Polycell Smoothover for dealing with artexed ceilings and walls. I have not tried it but it is worth a go. We paid £120 to have our bedroom plastered over artex. The size of the room is about 13 by 12 feet.
