should i? and can i claim.?
ive been signed of work whilst the doctors decide wether or not i need to have surgery on my torn ligaments in my hand .. ive been off work since january after a fall at work .. the company i work for have asked for medicals etc which ive done .. now its getting to the end of my 26 weeks off and ive received a letter from the company stating that they are suspending payments of S.S.P.. can or does anyone know if i can claim for my lost earning from them for this period from january to date.? they have never done risk assessments , working from height or method statements. i work doing plastering and do mainly refurbishment of kitchens and bathrooms for local housing association ..they don’t provide us with any P.P.E that is suitable to do a specific job .. taking ceilings down. floor tiles that may contain asbestos.. what should i do ????????? plz help
You can’t claim loss of earnings from your employer – they are only obliged to meet the SSP. You can however make a claim on your employer’s Liability Insurance policy, if it was a work related injury. If the claim was agreed you could get loss of earnings and payment for pain and suffering.
