Asbestos Carpet Glue

Floating Sub-floor Over Old Floor?
I have begun pulling up the carpeting in my living room and dining room in preparation to install engineered hardwood. While doing so, I discovered a potential asbestos containing underlayment glued to the sub-floor. I have been advised not to disturb it and to apply an epoxy paint over it. While that may be enough to minimize the risk, I still want to cover it further (and the living room needs to be leveled anyway), but I don’t want to screw anything into the material below. Could I do a floating plywood sub-floor. I’ve heard about this in basements, but didn’t know if it would work in this situation. Any suggestions?
I have laminate wood floors. The underlay is floated and makes for quieter, more flexible flooring. But really, the problem isn’t so much floating the floor, the real problem is asbestos in your home. Asbestos is very dangerous (as i’m sure you know). I would call maybe a contractor or a place that deals with hazardous materials and or the health dept to find out how to proceed. It’s my understanding asbestos “leaks” through most substances and is extremely hazardous to your health.
