Are Asbestos Roofs Dangerous

are asbestos roofs dangerous
How dangerous is it to be in a building with broken roof tiles containing asbestos?

For a nursery with two year old children

Very dangerous. Asbestos fibers may not be visible but could be released into the air by the tiles. Because they are so small, they lodge deeply in the lung. They are not removed by the body but actually scar the lung, reducing capacity. Over time, these fibers stimulate formation of a type of cancer called mesothelioma.

Not good, particularly for children who will be chronically exposed if housed in these conditions. Call an asbestos abatement firm to have the tiles removed and the rest of the building inspected. Chances are the flooring tiles and drywall/plaster also contains asbestos; the paint could as well.

Be there for her physically. If she needs someone to sit there and read to her, or if she wants someone to rub her back, or if she just wants someone there to sit. Go with her to her appointments, listen to what the doctors say, and be encouraging to her!!!
